In preparation for transitioning from iPads to laptops in 3rd grade, our 2nd graders are diving into keyboard training! With guidance from GCS Technology Coordinator Tianna Breau, they’re building essential typing skills to set them up for success. Keep up the great work, 2nd grade!

GCS students recently had an incredible adventure on the annual BKL Ski Trip to Medawisla Lodge! Through multi-agency coordination of after school lessons, students have been building and refining their cross-country skiing skills, culminating in this exciting trip.
It has been amazing to see their determination and progress, especially the youngest skiers who tackled the trails with bravery and enthusiasm.
Despite the wicked winter weather—and some students just learning Nordic skiing this year—the trip was a grand success! Participants even had a surprise moose sighting on the drive up!
A huge thank you to Suzannah Sinclair of NREC, Genevieve Trafelet of AMC, and parent volunteers for your efforts in making this experience possible!

Baseball/Softball Update: I'm very pleased to say that for the first time in a couple of years GCS will have baseball and softball teams at both the MS and Varsity levels! Parents this will most likely mean 8th grade students moving up to play varsity and 5th grade students moving up to play MS. We will hold a baseball informational meeting on Thursday March 6th @ 5:30 PM in the auditorium. This meeting will be for grades 5 - 12. I will post details about a softball meeting in the coming days.
Exciting news for our varsity athletic programs!

Mr. Beverly and his High School US History 1 class traveled to historic sites in and around the Boston area before February break. Pictured here, students are seen touring the Massachusetts State House.

"The GCS Camden Conference Club was pleased to be able to attend the 2025 Camden Conference live and in-person from February 21st to February 23rd at the Camden Opera House.
Over the February 12-23 weekend, students were able to connect with peers from throughout the state, meet and pose questions to renowned speakers from around the world, and learn more about democracy and its importance in global affairs.
Among the speakers in this year's conference were Maria Ressa, co-winner of the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize; John Shattuck, former United States Ambassador to the Czech Republic; David Brancaccio, host of the Marketplace Morning Report; and Colin Woodard, winner of the 2012 George Polk Award in Journalism and finalist for the 2016 Pulitzer Prize in Explanatory Reporting (pictured with GCS students Gabby Ur, Willow Henderson, and Ethan Brown).
In addition to the Camden Conference sessions, students were able to visit the Farnsworth Art Museum in Rockland, try local oysters for the first time, and stay overnight in a hotel near the ocean.
It was a wonderful experience for the students, and the GCS Camden Conference Club appreciated the support of the GCS administration and community to make the trip possible."
